[pgpool-general: 1326] Question about wathcdog feature

I am currently researching on 3rd party tool to be used with the postgreSQL.
I am very interested in knowing about the Watchdog feature that pgpool come
with.
Before I try out, I have few questions:
1) What is the min and max of nodes that watchdog can support?
2) how does the watchdog work in general?
3) if a cluster of two nodes, how does the watchdog is used to avoid the *
Shoot* The Other Node In The Head (STONITH)?
