[pgpool-general: 5343] In replication mode how insert_lock works ?

I'm trying to implement pgpool lock. I came across insert_lock. I'm finding
answers for below questions

- How insert_lock works internally ?
- How pgpool maintains sequence number between two data sources with
insert_lock ?
