Do I have to enable firewall on the virtual IP which will restrict all the other IP and will allow application server IP.

Is it OS level changes or Pgpool level?
Although I tried making changes at pgpool's configuration files but nothing happened.

I have created pool_passwd for md5 authentication. So that client connections from genuine IP that are present in pool_hba.conf should only connect through the virtual IP .
But it is not so. Any random IP is able to access the database by the connection string:
Even in pool_hba configuration there is no entry of the IP's

psql -h delegate_IP -p 9999 -U postgres

Can You please suggest what is wrong with the configuration.
