It is possible that pgpool-II forces to close the connection between
pgpool-II and PostgreSQL in several ways depending on the
configuration of pgpool-II. To know the cause of the problem, can you
please show pgpool.conf?

Another possibility is there's something like firewall between
pgpool-II and PostgreSQL closes the connection periodically.
