[pgpool-general: 3972] Failed to Authenticate Log Error

I am getting to following log messages and I can't seem to figure it out? 

LOG: find_primary_node: checking backend no 0 
ERROR: failed to authenticate 
LOG: find_primary_node: checking backend no 1 
ERROR: failed to authenticate 
DEBUG: find_primary_node: no primary node found
