*Ok I will bring up your concerns with my manager.

The reason for our bringing in pgpool was to govern connections
between our master db server and the slony slave server.  When
we previously attempted to implement slony without pgpool we were
maxing out on number of connections, therefore dropping them.
Pgpool is doing a good job of queuing up connections,
then bringing them in as connections open up.

This was a solution recommended to us by EnterpriseDB.
