[Pgpool-general] Pgpool hang for no apparent reason

I am using postgres 8.4.1 & pgpool 2.3.3 with:
    replication_mode = true
    load_balance_mode = true
    replicate_select = false
    reset_query_list = 'ABORT; DISCARD ALL'
    master_slave_mode = false
    parallel_mode = false

Twice in the last 4 weeks, pgpool has hung (port 9999) for no apparent
reason. The ps command shows a small number of connections. The top command
shows plenty of memory and cpu available. I can access postgres fine (port
2345) on both primary and secondary. The pgpool log contains no error
messages, but there are no recent messages at all. So, it seems that pgpool
stopped writing to its log at the same time it hung. The postgres logs are
normal.

Has anyone had any similar experiences? Can anyone suggest where to look for
possible causes and/or solutions?

Thanks,

Lou ...
