[Pgpool-general] kind does not match between backends

Sorry for the delay. I think your complain is that pre-opened psql
session is not kept between fail over.

No. While the fail over process the TCP connection from psql to pgpool
(thus pgpool to PostgreSQL) cannot be kept since PostgreSQL and pgpool
will be newly created. Sorry for the inconvenience.
