Summary0000809: Pgpool hang with broken pipe write error when the connection is established and idle for about 2-3 hours.
DescriptionI Was having this trouble on pgpool with streaming replication for 2 postgresql 14.3 db (Using postgresql synchronous replication). Because I think there is a problem with postgresql synchronous replication. But now, when i turned of stanby database, remove the other backend properties from pgpool.conf. I still have this error ocurred. This is the log for 1 node pgpool.

Steps To ReproduceI will send the postgresql.conf and pgpool.conf file to reproduce this.
Additional InformationI need to keep those connections to never die even when idle.

# This file consists of lines of the form:

# (The "=" is optional.) Whitespace may be used. Comments are introduced with
# "#" anywhere on a line. The complete list of parameter names and allowed
# values can be found in the PostgreSQL documentation.
#
# The commented-out settings shown in this file represent the default values.
# Re-commenting a setting is NOT sufficient to revert it to the default value;
# you need to reload the server.
#
# This file is read on server startup and when the server receives a SIGHUP
# signal. If you edit the file on a running system, you have to SIGHUP the
# server for the changes to take effect, run "pg_ctl reload", or execute
# "SELECT pg_reload_conf()". Some parameters, which are marked below,
# require a server shutdown and restart to take effect.
#
# Any parameter can also be given as a command-line option to the server, e.g.,
# "postgres -c log_connections=on". Some parameters can be changed at run time
# with the "SET" SQL command.

This error means the connection between pgpool and postgresql was disconnected unexpectedly.
It seems it is not a pgpool issue.
I think this issue is caused by underlying configuration, for example, OS or network configuration.

Thank you for your reply. Now i have a new problem with pgpool-II load balancer. Currently i have turned off pgpool-II load balancer but somehow it still made request to my standby node. How can this happen? This make my child go disconnected.
