[pgpool-general: 2866] Pgpool on application servers

Greetings all,

Is it possible to install Pgpool on application servers directly?

In this case more than one Pgpool would be servicing client requests
balanced across two or more servers. Would this cause problems?

Ideally watchdog would still be used, just with no virtual ip (or a
redundant virtual ip) so the 'master' node could monitor the PostgreSQL
nodes replication state and promote in the case of failure.

So all pgpool nodes would service requests, one Pgpool node would
monitor replication. Watchdog would ensure that the node monitoring
replication failed over if needed.

Cheers,
James
